Guangzhou China, Jun 20, 2019 – Techart, who has previously launched the first autofocus adapter for manual lenses, has unveiled another groundbreaking product, Techart Sony E to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter (TZE-01). The new TZE-01 is the world’s first autofocus adapter that allows Sony E-mount lenses to retain the Automatic Focus functionality when used on Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras.

The flange distance of Nikon Z-mount is only 2mm shorter than Sony E-mount. This makes the design extremely difficult, let alone an electronic adapter where a chip and the connector pins have to be squeezed into. Techart has managed to pull it off and develop one which include connectors of both sides and a PCB board with chip to “translate” the protocol of the lens and the camera.

The Techart adapter enables both Auto Focus & Auto Aperture functions of Sony E mount lenses to be used on Nikon Z6 and Z7. AF-S, AF-C & MF mode are supported in both still & video shooting. The incredible Face & Eye Detection of Z-mount cameras can also be used. Other functions like lens vibration reduction and timelapse can also be used. Phase-detect Autofocus is adopted to guarantee both AF accuracy and speed to be very close to (if not better) native Z-mount lenses. Please note that functionality may vary when different E-mount lenses are used.

Nikon Z system is a relatively new system and users do not have a very complete lenses selection. Unlike the system of Sony, most lenses manufacturers have been releasing lenses in E-mount and so the selection is complete. The new Techart adapter currently supports most of the Sony, Sigma, Tamron & Zeiss AF lenses with Sony E mounts including some of the best sellers like Tamron 28-75mm, Batis 25mm f/2, Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM and Sigma 35mm f/1.4, etc.

The new Techart TZE-01 adapter comes with a lens dock for firmware upgrade. Simply connect the PC/MAC via a Micro USB cable (not included) and the firmware can be updated via the Techart App. Techart is currently working to support more lenses.

Non particolarmente, se devo spendere in lenti Z preferisco Nikon a quel punto! Però direi che è un'ottima notizia, di sicuro qualcuno la troverà molto utile

Per qualcuno sarà un modo per continuare ad usare le proprie lenti Sony dopo il passaggio a Nikon.
Sinceramente non ci vedo grandi numeri, però è una possibilità in più, a patto che tutto funzioni come si deve.

Se al prezzo di un FTZ ma molto più compatto fa ciò che promette, è davvero interessante per usare le ottiche E che si hanno in casa o che si possono reperire in attesa di quelle S non ancora disponibili, o ancora per le lenti E usate che si avesse la possibilità di acquistare.

.. di lenti che non ci sono nemmeno nella dichiarata programmazione di Nikon S. Due su tutti: il 16-35/2.8 GMaster ed il sorprendente 200-600 (IF e non aggiungo altro). Sono ottiche relativamente costose quindi prima di fare esborsi sarà opportuno avere certezze. Io due persone che mi possono prestare il 16-35 le conosco, mi manca tutto il resto

Del 16-35 non avevo dubbi, ma anche di un 200-600 che non si allunga ed è costruito con una certa dignità? Mmmmmh, non me la racconti giusta.

Ma e' bene ragionare con la pelle dell'orso in casa. Le dichiarazioni  di questa Techart girano in rete da alcuni mesi. Vedremo in divenire se veramente sono concrete o se si tratta di millantato (o gonfiato) credito, perché una cosa è adattare un grandangolo un'altra è un tele o super tele; su un wide le prestazioni di messa a fuoco rapida e precisa al mm sono comunque meno stringenti di quelle necessarie per un tele. Certo che se l'adattatore si confermasse prestazionale, beh la  prospettiva è interessante PER TUTTI di qui e di là del fiume.

Bene che vada promette l'autofocus al centro. In ogni caso si trova tutto in casa Nikon e non penso sia il caso di andare fuori in cortile per prendere un f/6.3

Credo anche io che non sia rose e fiori e spendere 250 euro per saperlo è una bella tassa , ma scusa tra 5.6 e 6.3 è mezzo stop. Io ne avrei ragione di lamento che guardo attraverso un pentaprisma, ma a te che guardi la TV chettefrega?

AF is problematic. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it oscillates, sometimes it is stuck in out-of-focus and you need to manually adjust the focus to help it acquire focus in AF mode. Sometimes the rectangle turns green even if the lens is out-of-focus.

I'll need to test it more in the field to see if it is usable, but I am optimistic.

OSS (lens VR) does not seem to work, only IBIS seems to be working and with 90mm it probably cannot be that effective as with 24-70mm.

Per quanto mi riguarda, escluso FTZ, l'unico adattatore che potrei prendere per la Z6 è quello per ottiche Leica M o meglio Voigtlander.
Questa cosa dell'AF a pizzichi e mozzichi non mi ha mai convinto.
