Gli F-15 Eagle della McDonnell Douglas,le origini.

A metà anni '60 l'USAF si trovò nella necessità di ammodernare la propria linea caccia che vedeva nel McDonnell F-4 PhantomII la macchina principale in servizio,pur soddisfacendo l'USAF,questo velivolo era frutto di una richiesta della US NAVY ,inoltre aveva in linea altre tipologie di velivoli, risalenti concettualmente agli anni '50. Quindi nel 1964 si gettarono le specifiche per il nuovo velivolo destinato ad entrare in servizio attorno ai primi anni '70. Le specifiche vennero scritte basando
